Career & Training

Aircraft dispatching is one of those aviation careers that can feel very different once you move from training into real airline operations.

At Airway Connect, we spend a lot of time looking at the career side of dispatching, including job searches, interview preparation, resumes, and helping new dispatchers understand what airlines actually expect from candidates.

I'm curious to hear from people already working in dispatch or flight operations:

What was the hardest part when you were first getting started?

Was it:

  • Finding the first dispatcher job?
  • Preparing for technical interviews?
  • Understanding airline operations beyond training?
  • Building enough experience to stand out?
  • Knowing which airlines were hiring?
  • Something completely different?

It would be useful to hear real experiences from people who have already gone through the process. It may also help those currently preparing to enter the field.

Airway Connect is always interested in understanding where new dispatchers need the most support, so I’d especially like to hear what you wish you had known before applying for your first role.
